i wrote this on friday, when it was still sunny and dry outside:
i've never written in a captain d's before. some days i am more aware of events transpiring to get my attention, and today is one of those days. i am always awake nowadays, but i'm more alert some days compared to others. my car wouldn't start today so i went back inside the mall, worriedly eating an apple and reading the bible. my mechanic friend, my ONLY mechanic friend, happens to walk out the doors of barnes & noble and turn and look at me, as if he were waiting for me to tell him, "my car is dead". which is what i did in that moment, that split-second decision of carpe diem or pass on by. and he jumped my car off with five minutes to go before his movie started, and here i sit in captain d's, waiting on a diagnosis. captain d's radio is goood. they played mat kearney and ingrid michaelson back-to-back within minutes of me being here.
if circumstances can be divided up into God, life, and the devil, then this feels decidedly like God. and if i really believe that all things belong to God, that nothing is "secular", then i can find God in all things. even my car dying.
even divorce.
even depression.
even molestation.
even
floods.
