i'm always in love

love is gory and bloody and painful and bright, bright red. it is not neat and prissy and made for TV, or sold in trendy little boxes or bags, but it is dug up from the earth with a shovel, or buried on a hill at sunrise. it is written about too much and said out loud too little. it eludes our capture and runs circles around us, enveloping us if we'd just stand still for a minute. it's gloriously unfair. it's the Spirit whispering enthusiastically in your ear, making your stomach churn and your heart leap into your throat. it's a prophet speaking with authority and humor. and it's everywhere to be found. it is God's delight to conceal it, and our great joy to uncover it. it cannot exist where fear is allowed to live. choose now which one you will keep breathing. it should be a simple hard choice. fear is cancer. be prepared to fight to eradicate it. be prepared for sickness, scars, despair. but Love is not just the cure or the medicine. it's not even the words i write. it is that upon which i write.
